life insurance-procastinators beware

I wanted to tell a story about a gentleman that I have been trying to work with and I wanted to convey his story.

This story is not to scare you, but hopefully make you move if you are procrastinating getting life insurance.   I spoke to this gentleman several weeks ago and we identified his need for life insurance.   He has his own business and is married with two children, but doesn’t have any life insurance.   He didn’t want to deal with it at that point and decided that we should discuss it in the near future.   “How about in a month, lets get back together?”  So I followed up as promised one month later, but was greated with bad news.

“I went to the doctor and he thinks I have cancer”, he said.    This made me sick to my stomach to hear and feel terrible for this guy and his family.   Unfortunately, there may not be much we can do for him in terms of life insurance now.   He is getting a biopsy this week to find out for sure, and if so start chemotherapy right away.    If he happens to  not have cancer, then  hopefully he will purchase insurance right away.

I certainly understand that applying for insurance is not exactly a good time.  The process has become simple due to the internet though and we help people apply over the phone in minutes now.  I just hope you will read this and if you need to get protection in place for your family, not procrastinate.     Hopefully, this won’t end as a sad story.
